In the context of international integration, the year of 2022 marks a milestone of ASEAN, as well as for Vietnam and Singapore, as it is the 55th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ establishment, now known as ASEAN Community.

Following the ASEAN 2022 theme: “ASEAN A.C.T.: Addressing Challenges Together”, the Center for ASEAN Human Resources and Research Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, together with the Vietnam - ASEAN Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organization, and in collaboration with Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities, Singapore University of Technology and Design co-organized the academic webinar competition “The Smart City in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Age and Impacts on Urban Residents’ Lives In Ho Chi Minh City”.

The contest aims to encourage Vietnamese students to use English in researching practical issues, contributing voices and initiatives to improve people’s standard of living in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It gives us both opportunities and challenges which are intertwined and extremely complex. Therefore, the youth, the future leaders, should be ready to take the lead.

The book you are reading: “Reflections on the Smart City in the Fourth Industrial Revolution” includes articles by Vietnamese and Singaporean lecturers, researchers and 3 winning projects in the above contest.

Chúng tôi hy vọng cuốn sách này, với các chủ đề và bài viết khác nhau về chuyển đổi số của Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và các nước ASEAN, nông nghiệp thông minh, giao thông thông minh, kinh tế số, chính quyền thành phố , hạ tầng kỹ thuật và tác động của Cách mạng công nghiệp 4.0 đến văn hóa kinh tế - xã hội cuộc sống của cư dân đô thị, sẽ là nguồn tài liệu tiếng Anh bổ ích và thông tin cho sinh viên Việt Nam, đồng nghiệp quốc tế nghiên cứu về Đô thị hóa và Toàn cầu hóa tại Việt Nam.

Tập này mở đầu bằng tuyển tập các bài viết của các giảng viên và nhà nghiên cứu đến từ Việt Nam và Singapore, tiếp theo là bài viết của ba nhóm chiến thắng trong cuộc thi hội thảo trực tuyến. Cuối cùng, nó kết thúc với việc xem xét tất cả các bài báo, chủ đề chung của họ và các chủ đề nổi lên dọc theo chủ đề dường như khác biệt, kết thúc bằng một suy nghĩ về tương lai của Thành phố thông minh cả về việc triển khai và nghiên cứu tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh Thành phố.
